DGBS Playlist 7/10/17

UPDATE 7/21/17 - Hey guys... Now, I know all of you are saying "Where is it?" And by it, I mean the tribute to George A Romero, my favorite director, who recently passed away. Well, I wanted to do a big marathon of everything I had of his: including stuff I've never put on the channel, like Season Of The Witch, or Martin. Unfortunately - my archives have bit it (the data is fine, but the PC is toast, it keeps turning itself off.) I'm gonna try to rebuild it some time soon, so probably in a couple of weeks, I should have access to my full archives again and can honor Mr. Romero properly.

Good evening, everyone! I've got a new playlist for you tonight. As promised, I spent some time this previous week delving into the archives. I managed to come up with some good New stuff, and some good Old stuff... I tried to lean a bit more towards 'Obscure', but there's a couple interesting things buried in there. Enjoy!

If there's anything anyone would like to see, please let me know.

Binge watching is not good in the long run. Try putting together eight 3hr prime times. Prime time is television lingo for evening viewing. Don't call it Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and so on. Call it section A, B, C and so on. Let the viewers assign their own days of the week. If you are really good the viewer will be able to make up their own 3hr sections. Instead of ABC maybe eight different colored sections with the viewer not making up their own sections.

I was wrong about the number of sections. It needs to be nine sections, not eight.

No that's still not right. It has to be one less than eight, so that if a viewer comes back at the same hour the following day. He does not hit in the same section as before.

I've always had mixed feelings about the blocks of TV shows, how long to make them, etc. In this case, the stuff I played full blocks of were new things to the channel. And since I don't update that often these days, I like to make a big deal out of the new stuff and play it all at once. And then later on, I break it into smaller chunks and sort of sprinkle it in the schedule here and there. So in other words, it changes from playlist to playlist.

That having been said - I personally love binge watching :) My favorite thing to do on the weekends is to fire up a playlist with whole seasons of shows (currently I have The Red Green Show on heavy rotation on weekends)

But... I get what you're saying. I'll see what I can come up with for the next playlist.

Do you have anything by Larry Wessel?

Yes, looking forward to some George A Romero. Also, check for heat related issues.Check that heatsink. Blow out the dust, take it off and reset with more thermal paste. Also check the power supply, sometimes they can get wonky when they're overheating. Check other heatsinks as well, such as on the graphics card. Also, you can run that HD as a slave in another computer worst comes to worst. Of course, I am preaching the to choir. You are no idiot sir. However, still good advice if someone else were to happenchance on this comment.

i like marathons too! preferably full-series (IF i like the show in question, at all xD). it is much easier to "catch" them on a video stream playlist, than it is to catch a bunch of "fragmented" episode scattered across the schedule.

& you get to see & appreciate how the show & story develops, from episode to episode.

plus i HATE only seeing 1/2 of a "cliffhanger" pair of eps of something.

best, as always

Lx
